Our Poultry
Awesome Birds, Ethically Raised
We raise poultry because it tastes great, it’s an economical source of healthy protein, and it has beneficial impact on the environment. Our birds are raised in small flocks that live the majority of their lives on pasture. We provide them protection at night, but otherwise they’re free to roam wherever they choose.
Our birds help us by eating bugs from our soil. We also supply them with a ration that contains wheat, peas, barley, and canola. No corn, no soy, and never any GMOs. We never use any hormones or antibiotics.
Because we are a small operation, we sell whole birds.
Chickens
We raise a breed of chicken called the Cornish Cross. Developed almost 100 years ago, this breed is a cross between a Cornish and a White Rock, and it is the standard in the poultry business with lots of tender white meat. Our chickens are raised to nine weeks and typically range between 4-5 lbs.
Ducks
If you visit our farm, you’ll see lots of big white ducks swimming around our pond. These are Pekin ducks, and they’re a special treat. Pekin duck has a sweet, rich flavor with more fat and protein that chicken. Our ducks are raised to 8 weeks and range between 4-5 lbs.
Turkeys
We raise turkeys seasonally, just for the holidays. Because turkeys grow slower than other birds, we start them as chicks around the beginning of July. They are free to roam the farm all summer and fall. If you visit the farm, you’ll often find these calm birds foraging under the trees, quietly talking to each other.
We raise a variety of turkey breeds, each selected to do well in an open pasture environment. The meat is lean, tender, and full of flavor.
