Our Eggs

The Best Tasting Eggs, Period

It’s a bold claim, but we hear it all the time from our customers. There’s no secret, we just let our birds live their best lives. Our flocks are open ranged, meaning they can run, jump, fly, and roost anywhere they want. Our livestock guardian dogs keep them safe. We also have roosters - about one rooster for every 30 hens. Our roosters keep an eye out for trouble and help keep the flocks safe.

We believe in giving our birds a lot of variety in their diet. We of course encourage them to forage for whatever interests them on the pasture. We supply them with a ration that contains wheat, peas, barley, canola and limestone (i.e. calcium). No corn, no soy, and no GMOs. We also provide them with zucchini, melons, tomatoes, and all the other excess produce from our farm. Once a week, we give them almond meal that we get from a local almond milk producer.

We have a lot of birds - over 1,000 laying hens and 300 laying ducks at last count. Even so, our eggs are so popular that we sell out almost every week. What this means is that eggs you buy from us are fresh - often only a day or two past when they are laid. This is so important - fresh eggs taste better, the yolks stand up tall, the whites are firm and never runny.

The number of eggs we get each day varies depending upon the weather and day length, but with this many birds, we have eggs - both chicken and duck - all year long.

Beautiful Eggs, Chicken or Duck

We believe in raising flocks with a lot of biodiversity. We currently have about twenty different breeds of chickens, and ten breeds of ducks. It is for this reason that a carton of eggs you buy from us will often have many different colors in them. Brown, green, blue, olive, and even just plain white.

Producing high quality eggs is a lot of work. We collect eggs twice a day, every single day of the year. Every afternoon, we wash, sanitize, grade, and sort our eggs.

Washed, Sized, Graded, Dated

Producing large quantities of high quality eggs is a lot of work. We collect eggs twice a day, every single day of the year. Every afternoon, we wash, sanitize, grade, and sort our eggs. Fortunately, we have a giant 17 foot long, 1,200 lb machine to make this go faster.

With this process, our fresh eggs are available every day for both retail and wholesale.
